Susan James and Craig Packer are at the hotel waiting to take us to the Savanna's Forever compound -- The Pink Fortress. We get a tour and then talk a while into the night.

Sleep is under mosquito nets and piecemeal. I remove my ear plugs to enjoy the cricket chirp chorus, eventual a single mans voice joins in chanting what sounds like Arabic or Hindi prayers, early in the morning. Later the birds start up and the voices of large groups of children singing occur at 7AM.

Breakfast: Avocados, bananas, mangos and scones.
